Material	C45 / S45C carbon steel, 42CrMo alloy steel, stainless steel; cast iron or aluminium for pulleys; nylon for light-duty racks
Heat treatment	Quenching and tempering, induction hardening of teeth, carburising for high-load gears
Tooth finish	Hobbed or milled standard; shaved or ground for higher accuracy grades
Surface	Black oxide, zinc plating, phosphating or natural finish with anti-rust oil
Custom options	Bore and keyway, set-screw holes, hub length, helix hand, mounting holes and lengths to drawing
